1. Introduction to Cold Recycled Emulsified Asphalt Products
Cold recycled emulsified asphalt is a kind of road construction material used at room temperature. It forms oil in water (O/W) asphalt lotion by dispersing viscous asphalt in micro drop state in water containing emulsifier and stabilizer. This lotion has low viscosity and good fluidity at room temperature, and can be used at room temperature, or together with cold and wet stones. Cold recycled emulsified asphalt is mainly used for the maintenance and repair of asphalt pavement. Cold recycled emulsified asphalt is a process of mixing the asphalt layer of an old road surface with emulsified asphalt, and then paving it to form a new road structure layer. This technology can reduce raw material costs, minimize environmental pollution, and enhance the load-bearing capacity and service life of road surfaces.
2. Construction technology of cold recycled emulsified asphalt
The construction process of cold recycled emulsified asphalt includes the following steps:
(1) Milling: Use specialized equipment to mill the original asphalt pavement.
(2) Crushing and screening: Transport the milled material to the mixing station for crushing and screening.
(3) Mixing: Mix with appropriate proportions of new aggregates, recycled binders, rejuvenators, active fillers (such as cement, lime), and water at room temperature.
(4) Laying and Rolling: Spread and roll the mixed material into shape.
3. Advantages of Cold Recycled Emulsified Asphalt
(1) Resource conservation: The use of cold recycling technology can save a large amount of raw materials such as asphalt, sand and gravel, and reduce project investment.
(2) Environmental Protection: Cold recycling technology is beneficial for waste disposal, reducing waste emissions, and protecting the environment.
(3) Easy construction: Cold recycling technology can be carried out at room temperature, unaffected by seasons and climate, and the construction process is simple.
(4) Improving pavement performance: By adding rejuvenators and binders, the bearing capacity and service life of the pavement can be enhanced.
4. Application scenarios of cold recycled emulsified asphalt
Cold recycled emulsified asphalt is mainly used for repairing and rebuilding old pavement structural layers. By milling and crushing old pavement materials, adding recycled materials and emulsified asphalt for mixing, and then paving and rolling to form a new pavement structure layer. This method is suitable for various road maintenance and reconstruction projects, especially in areas with limited resources or high environmental requirements.
Cold recycled emulsified asphalt is applicable to the lower layer, base and subbase of asphalt pavement of expressway and Class I and second-class highway, as well as the asphalt pavement surface of Class III and fourth-class highway. When using the surface course of Class III and IV highways, slurry seal, crushed stone seal or micro surfacing are usually required as the surface wearing course.
