SBS modified emulsified asphalt is a high-performance material made by adding styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) polymer modifier on the basis of ordinary emulsified asphalt, which combines the construction convenience of emulsified asphalt with the excellent road performance of SBS modified asphalt. Its main advantages are as follows:
1. Excellent high and low temperature performance
High temperature anti rutting: SBS polymer forms a three-dimensional network structure, significantly improving the elastic recovery ability and shear deformation resistance of asphalt. Its ability to resist heavy vehicle rutting at high temperatures (above 70 ℃) in summer is more than 50% higher than that of ordinary emulsified asphalt.
Low temperature crack resistance: SBS modification enables asphalt to maintain flexibility at low temperatures (below -20 ℃), reducing thermal shrinkage cracks and making it suitable for cold regions.
2. Enhance adhesion and durability
Stronger interlayer bonding: When used for Tack Coat, SBS modified emulsified asphalt can provide higher bonding strength and reduce the risk of interlayer peeling of asphalt.
Anti aging and life extension: SBS polymer slows down the oxidation rate of asphalt and improves the pavement durability by 30%~50%, especially suitable for high ultraviolet areas or long-life pavement.
3. Construction convenience (retaining the advantages of emulsified asphalt)
Room temperature construction: Spray or mix without heating (construction temperature 5 ℃~40 ℃), saving energy and reducing carbon emissions.
Controllable demulsification: By adjusting the type of emulsifier (such as slow cracking type), it can adapt to different process requirements (such as micro surfacing, cold regeneration, etc.).
4. Environmental Protection and Economy
Low VOC emissions: Compared to hot SBS modified asphalt, it reduces harmful gases (such as benzo [a] pyrene) generated during high-temperature construction.
Good material compatibility: Can be mixed with recycled asphalt mixture (RAP) to reduce maintenance costs.
5. Multi functional application scenarios
Preventive maintenance: Microsurfacing and Fog Seal replace ordinary emulsified asphalt to improve the crack resistance and wear resistance of the seal layer.
Structural layer construction: used for adhesive layers, permeable layers (requiring high permeability), or cold mix asphalt mixtures (such as repairing potholes).
6. Special climate adaptation: The preferred material for high-altitude areas with large temperature differences and rainy and humid areas.
