On December 1st, the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Transportation Infrastructure Innovation Joint Laboratory was unveiled at the Wushan Campus of South China University of Technology. Zhang Liqun, president of South China University of Technology and academician of the CAE Member, Zhou Wei, former chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport, Zheng Jianlong, academician of the CAE Member, Fwa Tien Fang, academician of the Singapore Academy of Engineering, Zeng Zhaogeng, former director of the Department of Transport of Guangdong Province, Wu Bo, vice president of South China University of Technology, Lu Changhe, president of the Guangdong Communications and Transportation Association, Wang Qiang, secretary general of the Guangdong Highway Association, Luo Zhichang, chairman of the Macao Chamber of Construction, and other guests attended the unveiling ceremony online or offline. A total of about 200 enterprises and institutions attended the conference.
The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Transportation Infrastructure Innovation Joint Laboratory was jointly applied for by South China University of Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and University of Macau, and approved by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. Academicians Zheng Jianlong and Fwa Tien Fang serve as the academic committee directors and deputy directors of the laboratory, respectively.
As the invited unit for the unveiling ceremony, General Manager Guo Zhining of Xinxiang Longteng Highway Technology Co., Ltd. attended the meeting to express congratulations. We listened to a special report by Academician Fwa Tien Fang from the Singapore Academy of Engineering and Professor Leng Zhen from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on site.
Hu Chichun, Director of the Innovation Joint Laboratory and Professor at the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation of South China University of Technology, introduced that the laboratory will implement the development concept of "a strong transportation country", and is committed to research in multiple fields such as green technology for transportation infrastructure, intelligent transportation management, efficient and resilient infrastructure, future transportation technology, and the integration of transportation and smart cities. It actively promotes the innovation, development, and application of transportation infrastructure technology in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, in order to improve the technological level of transportation infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area and even the whole country, promote the maximization of economic and social benefits of transportation infrastructure investment, and achieve innovation and sustainable development of transportation infrastructure. In the context of deepening global economic integration and regional cooperation, innovative development of transportation infrastructure is particularly important. Academician Fwa Tien Fang stated that the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Transport Infrastructure Innovation Joint Laboratory will become an important platform for promoting international scientific research cooperation, which is conducive to strengthening cooperation between research institutions, higher education institutions, and industry leaders around the world. At the same time, it will provide valuable opportunities for academic and cultural exchanges, and cultivate innovative talents with international perspectives and collaboration capabilities in the field of transportation.
